High Levels of Urine Uric Acid Could Be a Precursor to Gout

You have just received the results of your annual physical only to find your urine uric acid levels to be elevated. After all if an individual’s serum uric acid level is around 7 mg/100 ml instead of 9 the chance of developing gout falls to around 15 percent. So small changes can make a big difference.

Urine uric acid is a waste product and is the result of the breakdown of DNA and RNA metabolism.
